Waarom Griekenland gek is

De schrijver van Liar's Poker, Michael Lewis, schijnt zijn briljante licht over Griekenland in DIT buitengewoon lezenswaardige artikel. Kernwoorden: irrationaliteit, bedrog, manipulatie en totale gekte.

Gyrotisch weekje voor de euro

Griekenland, en daarmee de euro, beleeft een kritieke week. Griekenland probeert obligaties te plaatsen voor ongeveer EUR3-5mld. Het is de Grieken en de euroland ministers van financiën er alles aan gelegen om deze plaatsing te laten slagen. Vrijdag gingen er verhalen rond in de markt over een steunpakket van ongeveer EUR25mld van de eurolanden aan Griekenland. Deze steun zal cruciaal zijn bij het aantrekken van geld. Griekenland moet EUR20mld herfinancieren in april en mei en zelfs EUR53mld in heel 2010. Dit is gelijk aan 5% van het Grieks BBP en dus geen geringe opgave.
